Ridge augmentation using bone blocks - indications and techniques
The workshop will impart the scientific evidence of augmentation procedures using bone blocks and state-of-the-art techniques in ridge augmentation.
Theoretical topics:
- Block bone grafts – healing, indications, suitable defect types, combination with biomaterials, limitations and complication management
- Harvesting block bone – anatomy of intraoral donor sites, graft fixation
Practical techniques:
- Retromolar bone harvesting and contouring bone grafts
- Biomaterials in soft and hard tissue regeneration
- Soft tissue management and safe suturing

New perspectives in soft tissue augmentation
The workshop aims to identify and manage the latest surgical techniques in periodontal and periimplant plastic surgery, focusing particularly on the employment of a soft tissue collagen matrix.
Theoretical targets:
- Deepen current and learn new protocols to treat lack of keratinized tissue
- Scientific background and new treatment options using connective tissue graft and a soft tissue collagen matrix
- Treatment options of recession defects discussing the use of a free gingival graft, coronally advanced flap and a soft tissue collagen matrix
Practical targets:
- Exercise techniques to boost keratinized tissue, usage of connective tissue grafts and a soft tissue collagen matrix
- Learn to treat soft tissue recessions using the coronally advanced flap along with a soft tissue collagen matrix
- Exercise safe suturing techniques to achieve best outcome for the presented soft tissue management procedures
Credit hours for this workshop: 4 (4 credit points for Germany)

Soft Tissue management in reconstructive surgery
This workshop highlights the importance of soft tissue treatment in obtaining bone graft material and examines the theory of surgical techniques in soft tissue management.
Theoretical focus:
- Incorporating mucogingival techniques in routine bone reconstruction
- Soft tissue collagen matrix for managing soft tissues around natural teeth and implants
Hands-on session on common mucogingival surgical techniques:
- Coronally advance flap for single and multiple recession, laterally positioned flap
- Bilaminar techniques and advanced, safe suturing techniques
Credit hours for this workshop: 4 (4 credit points for Germany)
