Astra Tech Implant SystemTM - A continuous evolution
In the research & development area, we work closely with renowned researchers and clinicians worldwide. The topics covered in our workshop – from segmental osteotomies and risk factors with immediate implants to hard and soft tissue maintenance with new implant design and supportive therapy – are good examples of this international cooperation.
Our new implant design, presented by Dr. Nölken, shows how you can achieve long-term esthetics by marginal bone preservation 360° around the implant. Anatomically designed for sloped ridge situations, this uniquely shaped implant works in harmony with the body’snatural bone healing and remodeling processes.

New esthetic paradigms in implant treatment: The importance of connective tissue attachment to implant and abutment surfaces
The most exciting advancement in implant dentistry is the discovery of optimized microtexture surfaces for dental implants. Previous research has demonstrated the effectiveness of laserablated microchannels placed on implant collars to support direct connective tissue (CT) attachment, a biologic phenomenon previously believed to be impossible. Such a direct CT connection serves as a physiologic barrier to the apical migration of junctional epithelium, and prevents crestal bone resorption. More recently, bone and soft tissue healing patterns have been evaluated when laser-ablated microgrooves are placed on the abutment margin. Histologic data and clinical cases will be presented demonstrating the importance of this novel technology in achieving optimal esthetic outcomes.

Use of allogenic blocks (Puros) in pre-implant reconstructive surgery indications, limits to their use and preliminary results at 2 years
The surgical techniques of bone augmentation have evolved to better respond to the aesthetic and functional requirements of the implant therapy and those of our patients. The autogenic bone augmentations of the bony ridge just as well at the maxilla as at the mandible are reliable and reproducible techniques. The use of allogenic blocks to succeed in this kind of surgery and avoid bone biopsies which are always arduous for the patients, although it lacks a clinical appraisal, is considered a technique of the future. In numerous cases and according to the well-defined criteria we have substituted the autogenic bone with these allografts with very encouraging results.

Socket preservation and alveolar ridge augmentation with allografts
Following extraction, tooth-supporting periodontal tissue is subject to involution, which regularly leads to a loss of bone volume. In the workshop we will discuss the biological principles of these processes as well as present various strategies and materials to reduce bone loss to a minimum. We will also discuss aspects of soft tissue wound healing and interventional treatment options, e.g. through the use of the socket seal technique or collagen membranes, and compare autogenous bone and human bone graft materials. Using real-life clinical cases as examples, we will look at the augmentation of large volumes with corticocancellous Puros allograft blocks and compare them with the traditional iliac crest bone graft. We will also discuss indications, contraindications, clinical protocols, opportunities as well as limitations with the participants.
Personal treatment failures will be presented and their causes and risks will be explained.
As to Zimmer Dental’s request, the workshop is only available for practitioners who work in a country in which Puros® is registered. These countries are: Argentina, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Honduras, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Republic of Korea, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, USA and Venezuela.
Congress participants from other countries are not allowed to attend this workshop. For further questions please contact dental.marketing@
